Feel supported and recharged with NDIS STA Gold Coast
Everyone deserves a break - and for carers and those living with a disability, Isla Care’s Short-Term Accommodation (STA) on the Gold Coast offers a safe, supportive place to rest, recharge and feel cared for.
STA is more than just a change of scenery, it's a chance to experience independence, connect with others, and recharge.
What is NDIS STA?
STA is a type of support funded through the NDIS that gives participants the opportunity to enjoy short stays away from home. It includes accommodation, personal care, meals, and access to the community — all in a caring and comfortable environment.
Sometimes referred to as “respite,” STA gives carers time to rest and recharge, knowing their loved one is being supported by trained, compassionate professionals.
A break with Isla Care's STA
While our Short Term Accommodation is a great break for carers, it's also a chance for participants to try new things, meet new people, and build confidence in a safe and welcoming space. It's a great chance to step away from normal routine and experience something out of the ordinary.
Our STA home in Parkwood is designed to be comfortable, with accessibility in mind. Located just minutes from beautiful beaches, theme parks, shopping, and parks, it’s the perfect home base for NDIS participants who want to relax or explore.
Conveniently located near supermarkets, dining, healthcare services, and local entertainment, our STA home offers easy access to everything you need. And when it’s time for some fun, iconic Gold Coast attractions like Dreamworld, Movie World, and Wet’n’Wild are just a short drive away.
Why is STA a game changer?
Life can deliver unique challenges for people living with disabilities, and regular access to Short Term Accommodation can help improve emotional wellbeing, provide opportunities to build skills and maintain long-term independence.
Key benefits of STA include:
Building independence and confidence in a supportive environment
Practising life skills like cooking, socialising and personal care
Offering valuable respite for carers to rest and reset
Enjoying new experiences, people, and places
Supporting emotional and mental wellbeing
After a stay in STA, participants can feel refreshed and ready to return to their usual routine with renewed energy.
Personalised support
Every person is unique, and no two people with a disability are the same - and Short Term Accommodation should be just as individual. At Isla Care, our Gold Coast STA is built around the needs, preferences and goals of participants. Whether participants want a calm, quiet space to relax or a busy, engaging few days filled with new experiences, our team is here to help.
Our STA home is suitable for:
Adults with a disability
Children and teens with an NDIS plan
People with higher care needs
Individuals wanting capacity-building support
During their stay, participants spend time with friendly, highly trained support workers who provide compassionate care and support.
What’s included in STA?
When you stay with Isla Care, we create a home-away-from-home, and participants will be provided with:
Comfortable, fully-equipped accommodation
All meals
Personalised care and support (1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 ratios in shared living)
Transportation
Activities tailored to participant's needs and interests
How Is STA funded?
NDIS Short-Term Accommodation is generally funded under Core Supports - Assistance with Daily Life budget. Most plans allow for up to 28 days of STA per year, which can be used flexibly - for weekends away, short breaks, or longer stays throughout the year.
STA is a form of funded support that’s “reasonable and necessary” based on NDIS goals and disability-related needs. If you’re not sure whether STA is included in a plan, our team or your Support Coordinator can help clarify and guide you through the process.
